Legislator Lorigo announces free, guided walk at Emery Park

Erie County Legislator Joseph C. Lorigo announces that a free guided walk at Emery Park will be held on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012. The walk is part of the six-week, “Be Active Erie County!” series to promote an active and healthy lifestyle.  

                                                                   

“Emery Park is home to some amazing trails, wildlife and natural settings. There is so much to explore in this nearly 500-acre park, and what better way to learn about it than through a guided walk,” said Legislator Lorigo. “In addition to the walk, information about living a healthy lifestyle will be available, making this a fun and beneficial event for everyone.”

 

Registration begins at 9 a.m. at Shelter 3, 2084 Emery Road, South Wales, NY 14139, followed by the walk at 9:45 a.m.

 

Additional walks are scheduled on the following days:

  • Saturday, Oct. 13 at Ellicott Creek Park
  • Saturday, Oct. 20 at Sprague Brook Park
  • Saturday, Oct. 27 at Chestnut Ridge Park

At these walks attendees will be able to learn more about how to get healthy and stay healthy, and receive health screenings targeting blood pressure and body mass index (BMI). Assorted health education materials, and smoking cessation services and products will also be available at each walk.
