Legislator Lorigo assesses road damage with East Aurora mayor

Erie County Legislator Joe Lorigo joined East Aurora Mayor Peter Mercurio to survey road damage throughout the village Monday afternoon.

Mayor Mercurio pointed out many roads that sustained significant damage this year and have yet to be addressed by the county’s Department of Public Works. Pine Street (pictured above) is lined with cracks and potholes, presenting danger to drivers and pedestrians.

“I am disappointed that the County Executive would overlook these residential roads that badly need attention,” said Legislator Lorigo. “After meeting with Mayor Mercurio, it is clear that there is much more work to be done. I’ll continue to push the administration to bring these roads up to standard for the safety of our community.”

“I appreciate Legislator Lorigo coming out to view the road situation at such short notice,” said Village of East Aurora Mayor Peter Mercurio. “The village residents look forward to his help in getting certain county roads repaired. Residents in East Aurora have expressed their concerns to me with regards to potholes and sunken grates on Pine Street, Maple Road, Buffalo Road, Mill and South Streets and hopefully, with Legislator Lorigo’s help, we can get them safe and drivable again very soon.”
