Erie County Legislator Joe Lorigo has selected Boys and Girls Club of East Aurora CEO Gary Schutrum as the Legislature’s ‘Citizen of the Month’ for November 2018. Citizen of the Month recognizes individuals who go above and beyond to better their community within Erie County.

Gary, an East Aurora native, has led the Boys and Girls Club for 31 years. Under his leadership, the club has expanded, membership has increased and many programs and activities have been established. He currently serves as director of Camp Ska-No-Ka-Skan in Holland. Gary has also coached basketball at East Aurora High School for over 20 years and was named Coach of the Year in 2015.

“When it comes to selecting citizen of the month, there’s no one more deserving than Gary,” said Legislator Lorigo. “His work as a coach, mentor and CEO of the Boys and Girls Club has truly made our community a better place. The passion and energy he brings to the Boys and Girls Club deserves the utmost recognition, and I am honored to name him Erie County’s citizen of the month.”
