Legislator Lorigo promotes commerce, meets with businesses to discuss concerns, highlight successes

Erie County Legislator Joseph C. Lorigo recently met with business owners and employees across his district during his “25 Businesses in 25 Days” tour in an effort to learn about the commerce that is the foundation of the towns and villages he represents and promote these great local businesses.

“Early on I realized that 25 businesses was just the tip of the iceberg, so I expanded my tour. The parameters were just a jumping off point, as I am committed to working closely with all the businesses in my district and assisting them with any issues they may have,” said Legislator Lorigo. “I had many candid conversations, and owners expressed their frustrations. There was a common belief among owners that regulations are passed down and the actual businesses and owners are forgotten. These are hardworking individuals who chose to stay here and invest in their community’s future. They should be applauded and elected officials should be doing everything we can to assist them, but burden them.”

“I was so impressed with the quality level of service we have in Aurora, Colden, East Aurora, Elma, Holland, Marilla, Wales and West Seneca. It was refreshing to hear that many businesses are operating in what has been a difficult economy, I think that is a testament to their perseverance and drive, and also a reflection of our community and the support we have for local businesses,” said Legislator Lorigo. “I also think it is worth noting the great number of young entrepreneurs who have opened businesses in the district. It is good to see youth investing in their towns and villages, acting as a driving force behind the rebirth of Erie County.”

“More often than not, we choose restaurants, repair shops, etc. because someone shared their positive experience, either word of mouth or by posting their comments online. By letting others know what great towns and villages we have here, we promote the entire community,” said Legislator Lorigo.
