Legislator Lorigo secures additional funding for libraries, veterans memorial

Erie County Legislature Majority Leader Joseph Lorigo announces that additional funding has been allocated for the libraries in his district. The West Seneca, Elma, Marilla and East Aurora branches have each received $1,000.

“I recently met with the directors from the libraries in my district to discuss their ongoing needs and funding was a major concern. I am pleased that the Legislature supported my request to redirect this funding to the District 10 library branches to support their ongoing efforts to provide quality programming and materials to patrons,” said Majority Leader Lorigo.

The allocation is not new funding. The money, $5,000 in all, was designated in the approved 2015 budget.

In addition to the $4,000 in support of the libraries, Majority Leader Lorigo secured $1,000 for the Western New York Memorial at East Aurora, Inc., which has been working towards creating a memorial for years.

“The volunteers involved with building a veterans memorial in East Aurora have been working tirelessly for a great cause. I am proud that Erie County can support them in their efforts to honor those who gave their lives serving, and to forever thank our servicemen and women,” added Legislator Lorigo.
