Legislator Lorigo visits East Aurora Senior Center

Erie County Legislator Joe Lorigo visited the East Aurora Senior Center Thursday afternoon to share information about county services, including the sheriff’s office Yellow Dot program.

Yellow Dot is a free program designed to help first responders provide life-saving medical attention during the first “golden hour” after a crash or other emergency. It allows seniors to fill out medical information that is easily accessible to first responders. Contact my office at 858-8922 to get your own Yellow Dot kit.

“Yellow Dot is one of the most important, life-saving services offered in Erie County,” said Legislator Lorigo. “It was great to visit the senior center to share information about the program and encourage everyone to sign up. I also enjoyed speaking with residents about county issues important to them, especially roads and senior transportation.”

During the visit, Senior Center Executive Director Donna Bodekor also pointed out a new freezer the center was able to purchase thanks to county funding. “Our center is extremely grateful to Legislator Lorigo and the Erie County Legislature for our grant to purchase our new freezer,” said Executive Director Donna Bodekor. “Our Stayfit dining program serves 40+ seniors daily. The freezer is vital to our continued success.”

“Donna and her staff do a fantastic job providing services and activities for our community’s seniors,” Legislator Lorigo added. “It was awesome to see how something as small as a freezer makes a huge difference. I proudly support funding that supports their mission and makes the senior center an even better place.”
