Lorigo teaches West Seneca students through Junior Achievement program

Over the past several weeks, Erie County Legislator Joe Lorigo visited Miss Girdlestone’s 3rd grade class at Northwood Elementary School as part of Western New York’s Junior Achievement program.

Junior Achievement is a volunteer-based organization designed to give students an understanding of economics and business concepts to promote workforce readiness.

Legislator Lorigo held three sessions to teach students about various topics, including: how people spend money, taxes, how to pay for goods and services, entrepreneurship and communication. Additionally, Legislator Lorigo invited WIVB anchor Dave Greber to talk to the classroom about his role in local media.

“I would like to thank Miss Girdlestone and her third grade students for welcoming me into their classroom,” said Legislator Lorigo. “We had many interesting discussions about different aspects of cities and government.  The kids impressed me with their thoughtful questions. I am glad I had the opportunity to share my professional experience with such a fun, engaging group of students.”

At the end of the program, Legislator Lorigo presented each student with a certificate. More information on Junior Achievement can be found here.
