Last week, Erie County Legislator Joe Lorigo visited Anita and Michael Sheehan’s garden in the Town of Holland and presented them with a proclamation celebrating and thanking them for sharing the beauty of their home with the community.

Since purchasing their home in 1971, Michael and Anita have planted hundreds of different species of hostas, daylilies, trees, shrubs, and more around their house. Their garden has been featured in nationally published books and is a cherished visit of the annual Open Gardens Buffalo/Niagara. Despite the event being canceled this year, Anita and Michael decided to open their home for visitors this past weekend in a socially distant and safe way to share the beauty of their garden with the community.

Legislator Lorigo said, “It was a pleasure to meet Anita and Michael and see their incredible space. They have put decades of hard-work into creating beautiful gardens around their home, and it shows. While they were unable to participate in this year’s official garden tour, I thank them for making the effort to welcome the public in a safe manner. I am sure everyone enjoyed taking time to look at their amazing display of plants, trees, and flowers.”
