Erie County Legislator Joe Lorigo visited the West Seneca Police Department Thursday to recognize its officers as the Legislature’s November 2021 Citizens of the Month.

The Citizen of the Month designation is to honor those in Erie County who enhance the quality of life in the community through their efforts. Legislator Lorigo selected the West Seneca Police Department for their 90 years of dedicated service to the Town, along with their annual initiatives to raise funding and awareness toward cancer research. The department is currently participating in ‘No Shave November’ to benefit Roswell Park Cancer Center, the Jeffrey M. Sgroi Foundation, and the 11 Day Power Play.

Legislator Lorigo said, “I’d first like to extend my appreciation to the men and women of the West Seneca Police Department for serving and protecting the community. As a representative of West Seneca and lifelong resident, I am honored to recognize them for everything they do to keep us safe. These individuals also give back to the people they serve in so many other ways, including their annual fundraising efforts toward cancer research and use of humor on social media, shining some light on a tough job. Everything they do embodies a model citizen and it was my pleasure to present a proclamation thanking these officers on behalf of Erie County.”
