Erie County Legislator Joe Lorigo recently toured Explore and More Children’s Museum with CEO Michelle Urbanczyk and External Relations and Grants Manager Kristin Scholz.

Legislator Lorigo said, “I appreciate Michelle and Kristin taking the time to show my son Charlie and I around the Canalside museum. They accommodate kids of all ages and abilities and have so many cool, hands-on exhibits highlighting Western New York. We look forward to coming back soon and seeing the space grow, including the three new exhibits expected to open next month.”

According to Kristin Scholz, three new exhibits will be open for play February 8. They are the Super Service Auto Center, a replica of the West Side Bazaar, and a new indoor and inclusive tree house exhibit. Legislator Lorigo also attended the official unveiling of the Treehouse exhibit Thursday, January 30.

Kristin Scholz said, “Person Centered Services Treehouse immerses visitors in a breathtaking Western New York woodland scene, taking the concept of an inclusive outdoor playground and transporting it indoors with a whimsical twist. Inclusive playgrounds break down physical and social barriers to play, providing a sensory-rich and fun experience for all while promoting opportunities for physical, cognitive, visual and auditory learning. The Treehouse structure will be accessible to everyone, including guests in wheeled mobility devices. Intricate, decorative details will mask all ADA compliant access points, including a wheelchair lift, which will be used to transport visitors with accessibility needs into the exhibit. Such features will ensure that no visitor feels unable to participate due to mobility constraints.”

The museum will be closed from February 3-7 while the new exhibits are installed. For more information on Explore & More and when you can visit, click here.
