Erie County Minority Leader Joe Lorigo has appointed Executive Director of PeacePrints of Western New York Cindi McEachon to serve a three year term on the newly-established Corrections Specialist Advisory Board. The appointment was supported unanimously by the Legislature Thursday afternoon. Made up of 11 individuals, the board will provide oversight and advisement to those managing the county’s jail system.

Cindi began her role with PeacePrints in 2014, which is an organization offering comprehensive reentry services to men and women involved in the criminal justice system. She has also been heavily involved in the community through her membership with Leadership Buffalo, the Erie County Reentry Taskforce, the Erie County Reentry Coalition, and the Junior League of Buffalo.

Legislator Lorigo said, “Cindi has done incredible work to improve lives and conditions within the Erie County Holding Center through her role with PeacePrints. I know she is committed to making a difference in our local jail system and she will be a great addition on the advisory board. I look forward to having her voice on the board and her willingness to take the politics out of working with the Erie County Sheriff’s Office.”

Cindi McEachon said, “As a passionate advocate for criminal justice reform, I am honored to receive the Minority Caucus appointment for the Community Corrections Advisory Board. I believe that my appointment demonstrates the Minority Caucus’ belief and desire to take an objective approach to this legislation by taking the politics out of it.”
