Erie County, NY- The Erie County Legislature’s Community Enrichment Committee on Thursday, December 10, 2015 unanimously approved a resolution authorizing a contract agreement with the architectural firm of Stieglitz Snyder Architecture for the replacement of the Dry Memorial Library roof, located on the North Campus of the Erie Community College. The committee report was approved by the full legislature at the regular session of the Legislature held on Thursday, December 17, 2015 in “Old County Hall,” in downtown Buffalo.
The Dry Memorial Library was built in 1958. The roof was last replaced in 1983. The existing roof is over 20 years old and shows severe deterioration, including leaks into the building.
“ECC plays an important role in our community by educating young people and training adults to compete in the ever changing job market. The upcoming replacement of the Dry Memorial Library roof along with the completion of the Bretschger Hall roof replacement project, earlier this year, and the new STEM academic building shows that this Legislature and County Executive are serious about the reinvestment in the ECC North Campus, as a place where todays' knowledge and skills are available to all Erie County residents. This regional asset, which has been neglected over the years, is an important part of the resurgence of Buffalo and Erie County” stated Legislator Thomas A. Loughran (D-Amherst).
