          Erie County Legislator Thomas A. Loughran (D-Amherst) will sponsor the Income TAXi, a free tax preparation service offered through Daemen College, from 5-8 p.m. Monday, March 4, at the Harlem Road Community Center, 4255 Harlem Road, Harlem Road, Amherst.         

          The Income TAXi is a free tax preparation service offered by the Center for Sustainable Communities and Civic Engagement at Daemen College. Three accounting students who are certified basic and intermediate tax preparers will be present to conduct the tax preparation.

          The guidelines for taxpayers using Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, or VITA, are: a maximum household income of $50,000; applicants qualify to use 1040 EZ, 1040A or 1040 forms, only Schedules A and B. People must bring their W-2 forms, last year’s tax form if you filed, photo identification and Social Security number.

          Taxpayers wishing to take advantage of this service must use 211 or call Daemen College’s Center for Sustainable Communities and Civic Engagement directly at 839-8524 to make appointments and must ask for the Income TAXi.
