Erie County Legislator Lynn M. Marinelli (D-Buffalo, Tonawanda) is announcing that the Town of Tonawanda Assessor’s office will hold a STAR Re-Registration Outreach Session from 8 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Monday, December 2, in the Town of Tonawanda Assessors Office in the Municipal Building at 2919 Delaware Ave., Room 3.
According to Town Assessor David Marrano, about 16,000 Town of Tonawanda property owners who receive Basic STAR received letters from the state noting that the deadline to re-register is December 31. This session will assist people who have yet to re-register, and people need to bring the Social Security numbers of all owners of the property as well as spouses who are not owners. The Assessor’s staff will assist you in going on-line and doing the re-registration.
Seniors age 65 and older who receive Enhanced STAR and/or low income exemptions are not part of Basic STAR re-registration. Instead, they are part of the annual renewal program and were notified by the Town in September about their renewal or are part of the automatic income verification. If you are unsure or for more information, please contact the Town of Tonawanda Assessor’s Office at 877-8811.
