Erie County Legislator Lynn M. Marinelli (D-Buffalo, Town of Tonawanda) was appointed to the Erie County Board of Health February 1.
A member of the Legislature’s Health and Human Services Committee, she will serve as a representative of the Erie County Legislature, and her appointment was confirmed by County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz.
“I am honored that Legislature Chairperson Betty Jean Grant has appointed me to be our representative to the Erie County Board of Health,” Legislator Marinelli said. “I look forward to working with Dr. Gale R. Burstein and the rest of the Board of Health to serve the residents of Erie County.”
The Erie County Board of Health makes recommendations to the county executive on the qualifications and appointments of the commissioner of health and the qualifications and duties of the deputy commissioners, officers or employees of the Department of Health. The board also submits to the county executive a program of health and laboratory services, facilities, rules and regulations concerning the services and facilities in the health and laboratory programs. The board will also advise the commissioner of health, by request or on its own initiative, on the preservation and improvement of the public health and services and facilities of the county laboratory.
