Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) Furnace Clean and Tune Assistance is available for eligible households

Buffalo, NY- First District Erie County Legislator Barbara Miller-Williams (D-Buffalo) announces that the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) furnace clean and tune funding is available for Erie County homeowners. The program is set to close on November 2, 2016, or earlier, if funding is exhausted.  Eligible households will receive free inspection, cleaning and tuning of heating equipment (furnace, boiler, chimney, etc.). A free carbon monoxide detector and programmable thermostat will also be installed if homeowners do not currently have one installed.

Furnace clean and tune applications are available at the HEAP office at 291 Pearl Street, Buffalo, 8am-4pm. Applications will also be accepted by mail. Clients may call the HEAP application request line at 858-1969 for an application packet.

Approved homeowners will be provided a list of qualified contractors in your area who have a contract with NYS to participate. HEAP will notify the chosen vendor of program eligibility. The vendor will then contact the client to set up an appointment.

All HEAP components are federally funded. The funding is limited and cooling assistance is provided on a first come, first served basis.

Eligibility Requirements:

Households must have received a 2015-16 Regular HEAP benefit OR be responsible for a heating bill and have income which does not exceed the 2015-16 maximum HEAP guidelines. Applicants must be the homeowner in order to qualify for this assistance.
