On April 13, 2018 Legislator Barbara Miller-Williams stood with Erie County Executive Mark C. Polocarz, State Senator Tim Kennedy and members of the Erie County Coalition Against Family Violence to declare April, "Child Abuse Prevention Month in Erie County."
Legislator Miller-Williams stated, "Child abuse is preventable. Let me repeat that, because it is so important: Child abuse is preventable. But prevention isn’t always easy. Prevention requires dialogue, and collaboration and vigilance. It is hard work, but it is vital, because preventing child abuse saves children’s lives. There is no more important work than protecting our very future."
Legislator Miller-Williams serves as Vice Chair of the Erie County Legislature’s Health and Human Services Committee and was instrumental in the reinstatement of the Erie County Community Coordinating Council on Children and Families, a citizen’s advisory committee for the Department of Social Services. She has been a strong advocate on behalf of the Family Help Center.
