During interactions with community groups and constituents within the 1st District, a request was made from community members for Legislator Miller-Williams to host an informational workshop on the process for accessing funding in Erie County. Each year during annual budget hearings, the Legislature receives funding requests from numerous community based organizations throughout Erie County who are either not aware of the process to apply for funding or are often times unable to access funding due to lack of knowledge about the application requirements that need to be met.
To assist community groups with this process, Legislator Miller Williams, in partnership with the Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz, will host an informational workshop presented by Erie County Youth Bureau, Erie County Environment and Planning, Erie County Senior Services, United Way, and Arts and Services Initiative of Western New York that will provide community groups with knowledge and tools that can be used to access funding through Erie County and other philanthropic lenders. The ‘Accessing Erie County Funding Workshop’ will be held Saturday February 24, 2018 from 10am to 2pm at the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library, Central Library Auditorium located at 1 Lafayette Square, Buffalo, NY 14203.
Please RSVP to District 1 Office via phone at (716) 842-0490, in person at 427 William Street, Buffalo, NY 14204 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Legislator Miller-Williams believes that government is only effective if constituents and community groups are effective and this workshop will assist community organizations in being successful in the much needed work that they provide for Erie County residents.
