Legislator Miller-Williams Hosts 3rd Annual “Accessing Erie County” Funding Workshop

Training session brought together non-profits and experts from government and community organizations

BUFFALO, NY – On Saturday, February 24, 2018, Erie County Legislator Barbara Miller-Williams hosted the 3rd annual ‘Accessing Erie County Funding Workshop’ at the Buffalo and Erie County Central Library. This event enabled non-profit groups and community members to learn the process of applying for Erie County funding.

“Each year during Erie County annual budget hearings, the Legislature receives funding requests from numerous community based organizations throughout Erie County who are either not aware of the process to apply for funding or are unable to access funding due to lack of knowledge about the application requirements,” said Miller-Williams.

To assist non-profits groups with this process, Legislator Miller-Williams partnered with Erie County Youth Bureau, Erie County Senior Services, Erie County Environment and Planning, United Way, and Arts and Services Initiative of Western New York to provide them with knowledge and tools that can be used to access funding through Erie County and other philanthropic lenders.

Speakers included:

  • Brian Bray, Special Assistant to the Erie County Commissioner of Social Services
  • Joe Roccisano, ‎Director of Agency Relations, United Way of Buffalo & Erie County
  • Timothy Hogues, Erie County Senior Services Commissioner
  • Mariely Ortiz, Erie County Environment & Planning
  • Jennifer Swan, Interim-Executive Director, Arts Services Initiative of Western New York
