Luther Walker Jr. Presented with Citizen of the Month Award

Buffalo, NY- At the regular session of the Erie County Legislature held in “Old County Hall” on Thursday, January 29 2015, Erie County Legislator Barbara Miller-Williams (D-Buffalo) presented Luther Walker Jr. with The Erie County Legislature’s Citizen of the Month Award for January 2015.

The Erie County Legislature’s Citizen of the Month Award recognizes outstanding members of the community.  Luther Walker Jr. has been involved for over 40 years in the Buffalo community as a community activist and is the latest recipient of this distinguished award.

“I am honored to recognize the diligence and commitment displayed by Mr. Luther Walker Jr.  He has put forth a continued effort to assist constituents and has helped make district 1 a great place to live and grow throughout the past forty years,” stated Legislator Barbara Miller-Williams.

Luther Walker Jr. began his community work as a Board Member of the Board of Block Clubs.  As a member of the Masten Block Club Coalition he was active in block club training and resolving resident complaints. He currently is Board President of the Coalition for the Redevelopment of Unified Community Involvement and Leadership (C.R.U.C.I.A.L.) Human Services Community Center which services seniors and youth in the Fillmore Council District. He is also a faithful member of the True Bethel Baptist Church where he serves as President of the Security Ministry and Board Member for the True Community Development Corporation. Luther was born and raised in Buffalo and is married to Cecilia Walker.
