It was a miracle that neither the Eden Public Library nor Boston Free Library Hot Dog Roast Fundraisers were rained out. Both fundraisers found small windows of clear weather during an otherwise stormy week. The Eden and Boston Libraries had great events on July 12 and 13, respectively, and both libraries’ broke their previous records with Eden totaling $1,450 and Boston raising $1,335.

“The weather threatened on both days but when it came time for the Hot Dog Roast Fundraisers we got lucky. I want to thank everyone who decided not to stay home and came out to both Eden and Boston. Thanks to your dedication, both branches broke their previous records and did amazingly well, raising much-needed money for programming and materials,” said Legislator John Mills.

The money was presented to both library directors during presentations held on July 25.

In six years, Legislator Mills’ fundraiser has brought in $7,314 for the Eden Library. 

“The Eden Library always appreciates Legislator Mills' on-going support and his fundraising abilities. The community looks forward to this event every year and always seems eager to patronize the roast. We are grateful for Legislator Mills' dedication to our library. We plan to use the funds raised to enhance the technology offerings we have available for patrons,” said Eden Director Donna-Jo Webster.

Boston’s events have now raised $6,423 in six years.

“The Boston Free Library is so grateful to Legislator Mills and his staff for hosting this wonderful community event.  The library is excited to use the proceeds to allow us to continue to provide free educational and entertaining programs for all ages,” said Boston Director Lydia Herren.  

The Hot Dog Roast Fundraisers have raised more than $72,000 for the libraries in Legislator Mills’ district with two more events this year: 11 a.m. Friday, July 28 at the Angola Public Library, 34 N. Main St., Angola, and 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4 at the Orchard Park Public Library, 4570 S. Buffalo St., Orchard Park.
