Erie County Legislature Chairman John Mills announces that tours of the County's maple syrup production will be held in March and April.
Join the Erie County Park Rangers on a tour of the county sugar shack and sugar bush. Activities include a hike through the sugar bush where you can see how the sugar maples are tapped, the sap collected and a demonstration on how the sap is then made into maple syrup. Fresh maple syrup will be available for purchase (cash only; please have exact change). Maple syrup pints are $10 each and quarts are $18 each.
Tours are scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 26; 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, March 27; 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 2; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 3; 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday April 9; and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, April 10.
The sugar shack is located on the North side of Genesee Rd, 5 miles East of Rt. 219 and 4 miles West of Rt. 16 in East Concord. Please bring along a full water bottle, weather appropriate clothing and sturdy closed-toed footwear.
