Legislator Mills announces funding for Blossom Garden Friends School, Cradle Beach, Boys and Girls Clubs

Erie County Legislator John Mills announces that organizations in his district have received 2017 Summer Primetime funding to support summer programming.

The funding was included in a $500,000 package that was approved unanimously by the Legislature at its May 25, 2017 session. The Blossom Garden Friends School received $5,000, the Boys and Girls Club of Orchard Park received $10,000, Boys and Girls Club of Eden received $7,500 and Cradle Beach received $10,000.

“I am proud to support the Primetime Funding request for organizations not only in my district but throughout Erie County as they work to support at-risk youth during the summer break. The Blossom Garden Friends School, Cradle Beach, and the local Boys and Girls Clubs all do a great job serving our community,” said Legislator Mills.

Primetime Funding also supports the Boys Scouts and Girls Scouts, YWCA of WNY, YMCA Buffalo-Niagara, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County, Police Athletic League of Buffalo and others. Determination of Summer Primetime funding is coordinated through the Department of Social Services and the final proposal is requested by the County Executive’s Office. For a complete list of organizations receiving funding, please CLICK HERE.

“Primetime funding supports Cradle Beach Summer In The City, which provides opportunity, mentorship, structured recreational activities, and learning opportunities for over 275 children and families of Erie County. Summer recess is a time that many kids go without opportunities that are essential to their physical and psychological growth. Primetime funding allows for many programs like Cradle Beach Summer In The City to flourish and impact the children and families of Erie County,” said Nick Schifano, Director of Project Soar and Outreach.
