Legislators accept Homeland Security grant for Sheriff’s Office to protect waterfront

Erie County Legislators John Mills, Lynne Dixon and Kevin Hardwick, whose districts border waterfronts, along with Legislator Ted Morton, whose district includes the Buffalo Niagara International Airport, announce that the Legislature has taken the necessary steps to receive a State of New York Office of Homeland Security grant totaling $75,169 to increase security of the international border along the Niagara River and Lake Erie. The grant will be utilized by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, which patrols seven days a week/24 hours a day during boating season.

Erie County Legislator John Mills announces that Cradle Beach and the Boys and Girls Club of Eden have received 2015 Summer Primetime funding to support seasonal programming.

2015 Hot Dog Roast Fundraiser schedule announced

Erie County Legislator John J. Mills announces the schedule for his 9th annual Hot Dog Roast Fundraisers to support the library branches in his district. In total, these popular events have raised more than $47,800 to support ongoing efforts to provide quality programming and materials at each of the branches in Legislator Mills’ District.

May 2015 Column - 2015 road work includes reconstruction of Lake Avenue

Erie County has set this year’s road work plan and I am pleased to announce that the 2015 Road Project List includes $3 million to reconstruct a portion of Lake Avenue from Abbott Road to five corners. I know many of you are as frustrated as I am with the condition of that roadway. Once the work is complete it will be a huge improvement for motorists

Legislator Mills encourages County Executive to accept $20M in funding and support County takeover of former 219 bridge

Erie County Legislature Chairman John Mills has reviewed New York State’s proposal to transfer the former 219 bridge to Erie and Cattaraugus counties and encourages the County Executive to strongly consider taking ownership of the bridge.
