A press conference was held Nov. 22, 2010 to announce
the opening of South Buffalo Street in Springville.

Legislator Mills joins County officials to announce that
skiing is open at Emery Park. It is one of many free
activities available in the county parks in the winter.

Concord Library

Legislator John J. Mills presents a check for $907 to
Concord Public Library Director Annette Gernatt.
The funds were raised during the fourth annual
hot dog roast held July 8, 2010.

Jolls House

Legislator Mills lead a tour of interesting places
in his district in August 2010. His first stop was
the Jolls House located in Orchard Park.

Work on South Buffalo Street

Legislator Mills visited the South Buffalo Street
construction site to observe progress of work.
The drop-structure and roadway were repaired during
the summer of 2010.  

News Totes

Legislator Mills particiapted in a press conference
at Chestnut Ridge Park announcing the installation
of new totes at all county parks. The totes carry a
message asking users to refrain from smoking
in county parks.

 

West Falls Library

Legislator Mills presents a donation to the West
Falls Community Library. The funds were raised
during a hot dog roast in the summer of 2010.

Legislator Mills announces that funding has been secured
and work on South Buffalo Street in Springville would
begin the summer of the 2010.

APWA Award

Legislator John Mills was awarded the 2011 American
Public Works Association, New York Chapter, Western
Branch Elected Official Award. County Executive Chris
Collins presented the honor on Feb. 10, 2011.

Explore and More 2011

Despite inclement weather, Legislator John Mills
and Pat Keem, along with Explore and More Board
Member Pete Anderson were able to roast several
hundred hot dogs on Sunday, May 15, 2011 and raise
money to support Explore and More Children's Museum
in East Aurora.

Aurora Public Library Director Robert Alessi demonstrates
how the library's new self-scanners work. This is a great
example of how implementing new programs and technology
can improve efficiency and protect taxpayer dollars.

Legislator Mills tours agricultural businesses in Erie
County during the summer of 2011. One of the stops
was at Eden Valley Growers.


Orchard Park resident Michelle LeVine graduated from
the New York State Basic Corrections Academy in 2012.
LeVine earned the rank of deputy and was assigned to
the Erie County Holding Center. She is congratulated by
Undersheriff Mark Wipperman and Legislator Mills.


Legislator John J. Mills (right) honored the Town of Boston
Emergency Squad during a meeting held July 25, 2012.
The following members accepted a proclamation recognizing
their recent efforts to save a small child that nearly drown:
Joseph Wells, Advanced EMT; Kathy Webber, EMT; and
Ken Brown, EMT and godfather of the victim.

After undergoing major reconstruction, Eden Evans Center
Road reopened on Nov. 20, 2012. The repairs made to
the roadway addressed safety concerns related to the
heaving of roadway during cold weather. Legislator Mills
and the County Executive marked the reopening of the
road with a ribbon cutting ceremony.  

The Collins Library Hot Dog Roast fundraiser was held
Saturday, June 8.

May 2013 Column - Serious road issues need to be addressed this summer

During a recent meeting to discuss the current state of Erie County’s finances, I received an update on the county’s road reserve fund and learned that the county is in a position to repair some of the issues plaguing our county.
