Erie County Legislator John Mills recently announced a public hearing will be held in regards to a local law authorizing 12 and 13-year-old licensed hunters to hunt deer with a firearm or crossbow under the supervision of a licensed and experienced adult. Currently, 12 and 13-year-olds are able to only hunt deer with a bow or small game with firearms.

Legislator Mills said, “For many Erie County residents, hunting is an important tradition that gets passed down—where each generation shares the dos and don’ts of hunting responsibly. I encourage all of the hunters in my district to attend on August 5th and voice your support for this local law.”

The public hearing is scheduled for August 5, 2021 at 6:00p.m. on the 4th floor of 92 Franklin Street.
