Marriage licenses may be obtained at the Town Clerk's office in the Newstead Town Hall by appointment only between the hours of 9:00am-4:00pm.
- Both parties must be present at time of application.
- Requirements for application are an original sealed, state issued birth certificate with parental information available and a valid drivers license or US passport. If either party is divorced, that party must provide copies of divorce documents stamped "granted" and signed by the Judge from any and all previous marriages. If either party was previously married and widowed, that party must provide a copy of their spouse's death certificate.
- There is a $40.00 processing fee due at time of application.
- The marriage license is valid from 24 hours after issuance through 60 days after issuance.
- If you can not make it in to the office during our normal issuing hours please call us to make a special evening or weekend appointment at (716) 542-4573, option 2 and we will try to accomodate your needs.
- If either party is under the age of 16, parental permission is needed from both birth parents and both parents or legal guardians must be present at the time of issuing the license to sign the consent form.
