Music with Mar

Interactive music and movement class for children, 8 months through 5 years old and their caregiver to participate in together using brain-based activities to enhance your child’s total development.

Class will be on the 1st and 3rd Friday’s at 11:30 am

 

Toddler Jumpbunch

Build fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination with brightly colored balls and simple toys.  Parents are encouraged to participate!

Ages 15 months – 3 years

2nd and 4th Friday’s of the month at 11:30 am – 12:15 pm

 

Bippity Boppity Boo!!!  Kidding Around Yoga is Back!

Send your children on a peaceful journey and join Donna Baia for fun-filled yoga classes!  There will be music, games, storytelling while they practice yoga poses, mindfulness activities and playful breathing techniques.

Pre-K yoga for ages 3 -5 ~ 10:30 am – 11:00am (parent/caregiver participation required)

Department of Social Service Assistance Returns

A University at Buffalo trained intern will be available on Friday’s, beginning October 19, to assist people in signing up for HEAP, SNAP and other Social Services in the library.

Nature Play

Discover nature in this fun filled program! Children will create their own collage and play nature games.  For ages 6-10

Navigating the Healthcare System

Andrea Whitmarsh, Executive Director of the Familial Cancer Foundation of WNY will be available to help you navigate the healthcare system.  Topics covered but not limited to:  Overall health questions, where to go for a medical concern, questions regarding a treatment plan, and review of individual medical records.

Stop by the library to pick up a free copy of the book, Honeybee Hotel by Leslie Day.  Local beekeeper, Carter McKay will lead a discussion on beekeeping and producing honey.

This program made possible by a grant from the National Science Foundation.  Pushing the Limits is a reading, viewing and discussion program for adults in communities served by rural libraries.

**NEW** T’ai Chi Chih with Denise Miller

T’ai Chi Chih movements are practiced softly with no impact.  No particular level of fitness, coordination or special clothing required.  Denise Miller is an accredited T’ai Chi Chih teacher who had been sharing this wonderful practice with students for 6 years.

Tuesday’s at 10:30 – 11:30 am for 6 weeks, beginning November 13 – December 18

Writer’s group for high school students led by author Nancy Eckerson.  Do you like to write or hope to get published someday?  Join our group to learn about the life of a writer.

Read to Therapy Dogs!!

The Newstead Public Library will have licensed therapy dogs visit the library for children to read to them.  This is a great experience for hesitant readers, children that may not be comfortable around dogs or just for the fun of reading to four-legged friend.  Parents are asked to sign children up for a 15-minute slot.

Looking to Volunteer??

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide along with the IRS is looking to expand its team of volunteers for the 2020 tax season at the Newstead Public Library.  AARP Foundation Tax-Aide provides free tax preparation to anyone, especially those 50 and older.  The Newstead Public Library is hoping to provide fee tax service at our library for the 2020 tax season.  We needs volunteers to provide this service. We are looking for compassionate and friendly people to join our team.  You do not need a background in tax preparation, just a desire to help.  Training will begin November 9 at the Clarence Public Library.   Please call Kristine at the Newstead Library if interested or email an inquiry to clarenceAARP@gmail.com.
