Annual Hand Knitted Sweater Raffle

This year our Friend of the Library, Jane has donated 8 hand knit sweaters to raffle off at the library.  We also have a sweater and a vest that can be bought on the spot!  Chances for the raffle are $1 and the drawing will be on December 20th!


FREE - Social Service Assistance Every Friday

Meet with an Erie County Department of Social services Intern at the library.  She can assist with applying for help with food, home weatherization, finding health clinics, and other social services programs.  No assistance November 3, 24 and December 22, 29.

The Real Winnie the Pooh

Winnie the Pooh was inspired by the story of a real-life bear cub befriended by a soldier serving during World War I.  Learn about the history of Winnie the Pooh and create a basic family tree to take home.

Our Pushing the Limits Science Book Talks continue!  This month we are featuring the book, The Wright Brothers by David McCullough.  Our guest speaker will be local resident and pilot, Allen Kidder.  Allen will speak about the history of the Akron Airport and share many photos.  Stop by the library for a free copy of The Wright Brothers.

Tail Waggin Tutors – Therapy Dogs visit the Library

The Newstead Public Library will have licensed therapy dogs visit the library for children to read to them.  This is a great experience for hesitant readers, children that may not be comfortable around dogs or just for the fun of reading to four-legged friend.  Parents are asked to sign children up for a 15-minute slot.
