Recreation Director - Dan Roland (716) 392-7657

To help serve our community better an online registration website was implemented in 2014. Residents are now encouraged to register online from their homes for all programs. Go to www.NewsteadRec.com to create an account login for your family and set up your family profile. If you enter any information incorrectly into your family profile and need it fixed prior to registration call the Town Clerk's office at (716) 542-4573, option 2, and they will correct the information in the system for you. Programs fill up fast so we encourage you to register early!

The Recreation Program has offices at the Newstead Cultural Center, 33 Main St, Akron, NY  14001 and at the Akron High School Pool area.

All applications for recreation employment should be either dropped off at the Newstead Town Hall or mailed to: Recreation Department, P.O. Box 227, Akron, NY 14001.

The Town of Newstead has a well-established recreation program that uses many areas of the community. Most of the activities offered take place at the Akron Central High School, though the soccer fields, Akron Falls Park and Town Park are also used in promoting recreation throughout our town. The program provides activities for various age groups throughout the year. We have a summer program that provides a full day of activities ranging from sports activities, arts and crafts to swimming lessons. During the fall, winter, and spring activities are planned several nights a week at Akron Central High School, which include community swim time, men's basketball, adult volleyball, several youth sports sessions, as well as other forms of recreation. We have also added a Saturday program which includes recreation and kidnastics as well as swimming lessons.

The Town Board and Recreation Committee support and work with many other recreational organizations in our town as well. The Akron Soccer League, Akron Sports Baseball and Akron Little League Football all benefit from the town's commitment to providing various forms of recreation to the different age groups in our community.

Communication to the Recreation Board can be sent to the Town Hall, Attention: Recreation Board
