The Town Clerk is the Freedom of Information Officer.  FOIL forms can be requested at the Town Clerks office or downloaded off of the FOIL page.

Town Fees are listed in the Fee Schedule.

Compost & Tire permits and CRT Recycling Permits can be obtained at the Clerk's office or the Joint Facility office with proof of residency(Driver's License).

A compost permit must be obtained and presented by any town resident wishing to dropoff yard waste or pick up topsoil/wood chips from the Joint Facility. No waste will be received from any commercial or landscaping businesses nor are commerical or landscaping businesses allowed to pick up topsoil or wood chips from the facility. These are for town/village residents personal use only.

Important Dates

February 15th County/Town tax bills are mailed
March 15th County/Town tax bills are due
March 1st taxable status day (all exemptions are due and property is valued as of this day)
May 1st tentative roll (all assessments can be viewed)
4th Tuesday in May Grievance day (apply to Board of Assessment Review)
June 30th last day to pay County/Town tax (unpaids are returned to Erie County for collection)
July 1st final roll (no more changes to assessment roll)
August 1st Hunting/Conservation Licenses go on sale
September 15th School tax bills are mailed
October 15th School tax bills are due
October 1st 1st round of Doe Permit issuance ends
November 1st 2nd round of Doe Permit issuance begins
2nd Tuesday in November Election Day
November 15th last day to pay Niagara & Genesee Co school tax bills (unpaids returned to County Treasurer for relevy)
November 30th last day to pay Erie Co school tax bills (unpaids returned to Erie County for relevy after this date)

These dates are NOT set by the Town of Newstead, but either by the State of New York or Erie County. We have no choice but to adhere to them.
