Join Ranger Roy to learn the basics of hiking and the necessary precautions to take to keep you warm and safe while enjoying whatever winter activity you enjoy. Meet in the lower portion of the main parking lot at Chestnut Ridge Park at 10 am.

Join Ranger Chuck to learn the mechanics and science of starting a campfire with only one match. You will also learn fire safety and the importance of fire to people and ecosystems. Meet at 10 am at the warming hut at Sprague Brook Park. This event requires pre-registration and is limited to the first 30 who sign up.

Join Ranger Jerry and learn how to use technology to enhance our outdoor experiences. This will be followed by a short hike demonstrating a variety of free outdoor related apps. Bureau of Forestry; Genesee Rd, a quarter mile west of the intersection of Genesee & Warner Gulf Roads, Sardinia, NY 14055
A Ranger will be at the Bureau of Forestry’s Sugar Shack on Genesee Rd from 10 am to 4 pm on March 17th and 18th, as well as March 24th and 25th. Stop by to learn how maple syrup is produced. A guided hike to the Sugar Bush will leave the Sugar Shack at 1pm.

Erie County Parks, Recreation and Forestry is selling 100% Pure Maple Syrup made right in the Erie County Forest. It is on sale in the Rath Building, 95 Franklin St, 12th Floor, Buffalo, NY 14202. Prices are $10/pint, $18/quart, $28/half-gallon, and $52/gallon.
Shelters are available for use May 1st- October 15th.
