Erie County Legislator Ed Rath received the 2018 Advocacy Award from Hearts & Hands at their luncheon Thursday afternoon. The ‘Edward A. Rath Advocacy Award’ was established in his honor to recognize long standing and exemplary service that improves quality of life for aging Western New Yorkers.

Legislator Rath is a proud supporter of Hearts & Hands, which is a volunteer organization serving frail and vulnerable residents in rural and suburban Western New York communities. They provide a variety of services including providing care receivers transportation to medical appointments, grocery shopping and other errands.

“Hearts & Hands is an outstanding organization and I am honored to receive this award,” said Legislator Rath. “Their transportation services are vital to many seniors throughout our community, which wouldn’t be possible without the work of their incredible staff and volunteers. We are grateful for everything they do!”

Lockport resident Al Fiedler received the Volunteer of the Year Award and was also recognized at the luncheon.
