Erie County, NY- Legislator Peter J. Savage III (D-Tonawanda & Buffalo) commended Bill Swanson for his civic contributions, and in recognition of his volunteer work in the community, named him Erie County Legislature’s Citizen of the Month for March 2015 at the Erie County Legislature’s regular session held in “Old County Hall” on Thursday, March 12, 2015 in downtown Buffalo with his family, friends and co-workers in attendance.

“Bill is a strong and effective leader who can always be counted on to put the residents of the Town of Tonawanda first, Stated Legislator Savage.  Bill Swanson’s tireless efforts on behalf of our community are inspirational and are worthy of recognition by this Honorable Body.   Whether it be assisting his colleagues in the Village of Kenmore, working with Erie County to share services, or mobilizing staff and volunteers from the Town of Tonawanda to lend aid to communities in need throughout Western New York, Bill routinely goes above and beyond the call of duty. ”

Bill Swanson has been a Tonawanda resident and employee for many years, dedicated to improving the lives of residents, through his work and volunteer activities.  Bill started his public service in the Tonawanda Highway Department in 1976 and through his diligence, hard work and the respect of his peers, Bill was appointed Superintendent in 2011, and he was subsequently elected to this position and has since served with distinction.

Bill has been a life member of the Kenilworth Volunteer Fire Company, No. 1, including many leadership roles as Chief, and has spent many years participating in neighborhood beautification projects with his conservation and environmental efforts and expertise.
