More From Our Department

  • Erie County Department of Senior Services is interested in starting a restaurant dining pilot program for Older Adults in Erie County. The Department would like to partner with locally owned establishments within Erie County that would be willing to work together to offer nutritious, well balanced menu items at a cost to be assumed by the Department of Senior Services. The Department wishes to provide Dine- In breakfast, lunch and dinner options to program participants, though all 3 options do not need to be provided at each location.

  • Review detailed information about every Medicare and Medicaid-certified nursing home in Erie County, including the overall rating based on health inspection, staffing, and quality measure ratings, on our Safer Senior Homes website.

  • Classes for People Helping Older Relatives or Friends

A six-week educational program designed to provide caregivers the tools needed for taking care of themselves is now being offered. Through six 2 1/2 hour sessions held on a weekly basis caregivers learn to reduce stress, improve self-confidence, better communicate feelings, and locate helpful resources. Attendees also learn how to increase their ability to make tough decisions and balance their lives.

You’ve gained a lifetime of experience. Now is the time to put your skills and talents to good use by volunteering through Erie County’s Retired and Senior Volunteer Program – RSVP. Orientations cover RSVP’s history and mission, volunteer policies and procedures, volunteer opportunities, and volunteer benefits.

All new RSVP volunteers are required to attend an orientation session.
