May 30, 2013- Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard is reporting that a City of Dunkirk woman was arrested late yesterday afternoon on a variety of charges.
Kelly M. Wisniewski, age 33, of Nevins St. in Dunkirk, was stopped for a seat belt violation. After failing several sobriety tests, she was transported to the Erie County Sheriff's transport office for further evaluation. The arresting officer, Dep. Simon Biegasiewicz, a Drug Recognition Expert (D.R.E.), determined that she was under the influence, and placed her under arrest. In addition, she was found to be in possession of a quantity of suspected heroin.
She was charged with Criminal possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, a class A Misdemeanor. She was also found to be driving with a total of six suspensions in effect on her driver's license, in various jurisdictions, all for failing to answer a summons. A computer check also showed an active arrest warrant for Petit Larceny from the City of Buffalo Police. Wisniewski was taken to the Erie County Holding Center to be held pending arraignment in Buffalo City Court. Dep. Biegasiewicz was assisted by Detective Emily Nelson. Both officers are assigned to the Buffalo Strike Force Detail.
This is the 138th arrest of the year by the Erie County Sheriff's Office for Driving While Intoxicated.
