67 PEOPLE ARRESTED FOR DWI SO FAR THIS YEAR


March 11, 2013- DEPUTIES ARREST 67 PEOPLE SO FAR THIS YEAR ON DWI CHARGES INCLUDING UNCONSCIOUS MAN BEHIND THE WHEEL AND VILLAGE OF AKRON WOMAN

March 9, 2013- Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of two area drivers for Driving While Intoxicated by Sheriff's Road Patrols late Saturday and Sunday. So far in in 2013 Sheriff’s road patrols have arrested 67 people for Driving While Intoxicated on area roadways.

Responding to an accident call on Southwestern Blvd, Deputy Neil Held found an unconscious man behind the wheel. Frank A. Thompson of Brant was evaluated by first aid crews from the Seneca Nation Volunteer Fire Department and was cleared. He was determined to be intoxicated and was processed for his arrest at the Sheriff's North Collins substation. He refused to provide a breath sample to determine his Blood Alcohol Content. The Department of Motor Vehicles will be notified of his refusal and his license will be revoked. He was released on appearance tickets.

While Patrolling in the Village of Akron Deputy Simon Biegasiewicz stopped a car for not stopping at a stop sign. This led to the DWI arrest of Rachel A. Miller (37) of Akron. After failing several standard field sobriety test she was taken to the Sheriff's substation for processing. Ms. Miller’s Blood Alcohol Content was .16%, which is twice the legal limit. She was released on appearance tickets to appear in Akron Village Court at a future date.
