April 5- 6, 2013-    Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of seven people for various Penal Law and Traffic Law offenses by Sheriff’s Road Patrols in separate incidents on Friday night and early Saturday morning.         

     While Patrolling in the Town of Clarence at about 11:30 pm Deputy Simon Biegasiewicz arrested Linda L. Penner (59) of Amherst for Driving While Intoxicated.  She refused to provide a breath sample so in accordance with the Vehicle and Traffic Law her license will be revoked immediately.


     Also in Clarence at about 11:40 pm Deputy Brandon Stott stopped a car driven by Melissa Donlon (27) of Williamsville.  In addition to the traffic infraction she was stopped for she was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd degree.  During the course of the arrest Deputy Stott recognized the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.  This led to the arrest of Ms. Donlon and her two passengers, Nicole Tornabene (20) and Demere Davis (22).  The three Williamsville residents were released on appearance tickets to appear in Clarence Town Justice Court at a future date.


     Shortly before 3:00am Saturday morning deputies responded to a call of a man brandishing a gun after an altercation at a bar on Sandridge Road in the Town of Alden.  The offender fled but after a brief search deputies found Nicholas A. Sedita (26).  After safely getting the subject into custody the investigation revealed that the gun in question was an Airsoft gun.  Video evidence of the incident and witness statements were gathered by the deputies and Sedita was arrested for Menacing in the 2nd degree.


          At about 4:30AM, Deputy Jason Clark observed a car that appeared to have smoke coming off of the front of the car.  Upon further investigation he noticed that the car was being driven without a tire on one of the front wheels.  Darcy L. Quarantillo, (40) of Grand Island, was subsequently charged with Driving While Intoxicated,  Ability Impaired by Drugs.  After her evaluation by Drug Recognition Expert Deputy Simon Biegasiewicz she was transported to Erie County Medical Center to have blood drawn.  She was released on tickets to appear in Grand Island Justice court on a future date. 


     While traveling from Clarence to Grand Island to perform the evaluation of Ms. Quarantillo, Deputy Biegasiewicz arrested Michael J. Higgins (28) of North Tonawanda for Driving While Intoxicated on Main Street near the 290 I the Town of Amherst.  He was transported to the Grand Island substation for processing and his Blood Alcohol Content was .12%.  He was released into the custody of a family member. 

      The three DWI arrests made last night mark DWI 91 arrests in 2013 by Sheriff’s Road Patrols.
