AGRRAVATED DWI IN TOWN OF GRAND ISLAND


January 14, 2012- Town of Grand Island Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of a Buffalo man for Aggravated DWI after his vehicle slid off the road on Grand Island.

Erie County Sheriff’s Deputies Ryan Rogers and Matt Cipollitti responded to Baseline Rd. near Woodstream Rd. in the Town of Grand Island for a report of a vehicle that slid off the road. Upon arrival, with further investigation and a set of  field sobriety tests, it was determined that the driver, 45 y/o Edward Velazquez, of the City of Buffalo was intoxicated.

Velazquez was subsequently arrested and charged with DWI. Velazquez completed a chemical test which showed his BAC to be .23%, almost three times the legal limit. This BAC caused Velazquez to be further charged with Aggravated DWI.

Velazquez was released to a third party on traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Grand Island Courtat a later date.
