AMHERST MAN CHARGED WITH FELONY DWI IN TOWN OF BOSTON

January 22, 2012- Sheriff Tim Howard reports that a Town of Amherst man was arrested for DWI after deputies were dispatched to a complaint of reckless operation on Route 219 in the Town of Concord near the Springville exit.    Deputy Ken Hetey intercepted the conversion van as it was exiting the expressway at Rice Road in the Town of Boston.  The driver, 37 year old Todd J. Mangan of Nancy Lane exhibited signs of intoxication.  He was given several field sobriety tests which he failed.  He was placed under arrest and was transported to the Springville substation for processing.  A NYS Department of Motor Vehicles computer check showed he had two convictions for DWI on his license, from 2006 in the City of Niagara Falls and Town of Cheektowaga.  The convictions increased the level of this arrest to a felony status.

Mr. Mangan was transported to the Erie County Holding Center on $500.00 bail after refusing to submit to a breath test.  He has a return date to appear in the Town of Boston Court to answer to the charges.
