Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of an area driver for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated by Sheriff’s Road Patrols just after midnight Friday.
Responding to a call of a man who had backed into another car in the parking lot of a Transit Rd Bar in the Town of Elma, Deputies George Avery and Russ Tyczka arrested Aaron Jajkowski of Cheektowaga for Driving While Intoxicated. After striking the car parked behind him, Jajkowski attempted to leave the parking lot, but the deputies where on-scene almost immediately and were able to stop him. He was subsequently given Standard Field Sobriety Tests and then charged with Aggravated DWI. His Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) was .28%, 3 and one-half times the legal limit. He was processed at the Sheriff’s Elma Station on Bowen Road and released on appearance tickets. The charge is an Aggravated DWI due to Mr. Jajkowski’s BAC being greater than .18%.
This marks the 73rd Driving While Intoxicated Arrest by Sheriff’s Road Patrols in 2014.
