Attempt to introduce contraband into the Erie County Holding Center


Erie County Sheriff Timothy B Howard reports that his Narcotics Unit, working closely with assistant district attorney John Feroleto, arrested Erie County Holding Center inmate Richard Newman, 34 years of age, and his girlfriend, Jessica Wozniak, 29 years of age of 18 Muskingum Street, Depew, NY. Newman was already incarcerated on a pending burglary charge.  

Both were originally charged with introducing dangerous contraband into the holding center, a D felony, attempted criminal sale of narcotics, a D felony, and  attempted sale of narcotics, a D felony. Newman also was charged with an A misdemeanor for disobeying an order of protection initiated by Jessica Wozniak.  Wozniak and Newman conspired to get soboxone into the Holding Center. Newmans' pending case was no deterrent to his commission of further crimes, and he and his girlfriend pled guilty to E felonies. Newman remains incarcerated and is to be sentenced in front of Erie County Court Justice Shiela Ditullio on April 22, 2014. Wozniak is set for sentencing May 12, 2014 also in front of Justice Ditullio.
