Basom Man Arrested on the Seneca Nation Reservation

Sheriff Timothy B Howard reports the early morning arrest of a Town of Basom man for DWI following a property damage vehicle accident with a parked car.

Erie County Sheriff's Deputies Jason Breinlinger and Brendan Connolly responded to Longhouse Rd. on the Seneca Nation Reservation a little after midnight on Friday morning for a report of a vehicle striking a parked vehicle. Upon arrival and further investigation it was discovered that a vehicle driven by 20 year old Cyle J. Sundown of Basom N.Y.  was travelling on Longhouse Rd. when it struck a parked vehicle.  Sundown was not injured but subsequent field sobriety tests revealed that he was intoxicated.

Sundown was arrested and charged with DWI and other traffic violations.   Sundown submitted to a chemical breath test which resulted in a reading of .16 % BAC, twice the legal limit. His vehicle was towed from the scene and he was later released to family members with appearance tickets for the Town of North Collins Court at a later date.

This was the 67th DWI arrest by the Erie County Sheriff's Road Patrol this year.
