BURGLARY CATTARAUGUS INDIAN RESERVATION


January 28, 2012 - Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard reports the arrest of a Gowanda and Brant man on multiple charges, including burglary from a residence on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation.

Deputy Nathan Bork responded to an address on the Brant Reservation Road in the Town of Brant for a complaint that two men entered an empty house, took some scrap metal from inside and had left the residence in a truck.  The complainant who had witnessed the activity and had the truck stopped and was awaiting patrol.

Upon arrival and further investigation by Deputy Bork, the scrap metal and some other small items from the residence were located inside the truck and identified by the complainant who had been watching over the residence.

The two men in the truck were identified as 25 year old Bradley E. Gabel of Gowanda and 31 year old Seneca Mohawk of Brant.  Both were subsequently arrested and charged with burglary second degree; criminal possession of stolen property 5th degree; criminal trespass, 2nd degree and petit larceny.

Both were arraigned at the Town of North Collins Court where Gabel was released on his own recognizance; Mohawk was remanded to the Erie County Holding Center on $1,000 bail.
