SUBJECT: Burglary, & DWI
LOCATION: Towns in Erie County
DATE & TIME: 3/5/13
March 5, 2013- Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the activities of Sheriff’s road patrols early Tuesday morning.
While patrolling in the Town of Grand Island Deputies Bradley Girdler and Jason Clark responded to a Burglary in Progress call. Homeowners were awakened by the sound of a burglar in their home. They saw the burglar run out of their home and wisely called 911 instead of chasing the subject. A Crime Scene Technician was called out to process the scene to gather all possible evidence. The Sheriff wants to remind all area residents to lock all their windows and doors on their homes as well as their cars. These simple measures may prevent you from becoming the next victim.
In the Town of Elma Deputy Dave Zamorek arrested Michael J. Meiler (25) of Aurora for Driving While Intoxicated following a traffic stop on Transit Road. After failing several Standard Field Sobriety Tests Mr. Meiler was taken to the Sheriff’s Elma substation and processed for arrest. This is the 62nd DWI arrest by Sheriff’s Deputies in 2013. The Blood Alcohol Content of Mr. Meiler’s breath was .11%. He was released on an appearance ticket to a sober third party.
