CARS STUCK IN DITCH LEAD TO DWI ARRESTS


January 14, 2012- Town of Holland; Town of Grand Island-  Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of two local residents for Driving While Intoxicated after Sheriff’s Road Patrols were called to check on cars stuck in the ditch early Saturday morning. 

While on patrol in Holland, Deputy George Avery of the Colden Substation responded to a complaint of a car in the ditch on Rt. 16.  Deputy Avery subsequently arrested the driver:  James P. Zadul (40) of Holland and charged him with DWI and traffic infractions.  A breath test revealed his blood alcohol content to be .16%.  He was processed at the Springville Substation and released on appearance tickets for Holland Court. 

While on patrol on Grand Island, Deputies Mike Haug and Dan Milbrandt were called to investigate a car stuck in the ditch on East River Road near Whitehaven Road.  The Deputies subsequently arrested the driver:  Stephen J. Shackelford (19) of Grand Island and charged him with DWI and traffic infractions.  A breath test revealed his blood alcohol content to be .13%.  He was processed at the Grand Island Substation and released on appearance tickets.
