CLARENCE MAN ARRESTED FOR DWI IN CLARENCE


October 13, 2012- Town of Clarence- Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of a Clarence man for aggravated DWI following a two car property damage accident on Greiner Rd. in Clarence.

 Erie County Sheriff’s Deputies John Davis and Robert Kolmetz responded to Greiner Rd. at Shimerville Rd. in the Town of Clarence for a reported two car property damage accident. A vehicle driven by 69 y/o Michael M. Berringer of Clarence rear ended another vehicle which was stopped at the red light at the intersection.

 Upon further investigation, interview, and field sobriety tests, it was determined that Berringer was intoxicated. Berringer was subsequently arrested for DWI. Berringer submitted to a chemical breath test which showed a reading of .20% BAC, upgrading the DWI to an Aggravated DWI charge.

 Berringer was later released to family members with traffic citations, returnable to the Town of Clarence Court at a later date.

 

There were no reportable injuries from the accident.
