CLARENCE MAN ARRESTED FOR THREE MISDEMEANOR CHARGES/ SEX ABUSE /ETC.

Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard is announcing the recent arrest of a Clarence man on three (A) misdemeanor charges including sexual abuse 2nd degree- sex contact with a person less than 14 years old; forcible touching of another’s sexual /intimate parts; and acting in a manner injurious to a child less than 17 years old.

67 year old Richard Cannistra of Boyd Drive, Clarence was arrested without incident at his residence on December 18th.

The incidents took place between 2005 and 2006 when the victim was 11 and 12 years old, respectively.

The victim initially didn’t report the incidents when they occurred because their family decided they would handle the situation internally and cut off contact with Mr. Cannistra.

At the insistence of a friend, the victim came forward recently to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office after they became alarmed that Cannistra was beginning to babysit three young children.

Cannistra was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Clarence Town Court.
