March 28, 2012- Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of a Freedom man for Criminal Impersonation 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana following traffic stop for illegally displaying a red emergency light in his personal vehicle.
Erie County Sheriff’s Deputy James Flowers made the traffic stop in the Town of Sardinia on 46 y/o David L. Muraco of Freedom, after a citizen complaint that Muraco was travelling southbound on Route 400 in the Town of Aurora while activating a red emergency type light on the dashboard of his personal vehicle, urging drivers ahead of him to move over. Muraco claimed to Deputies that he was in a hurry to get home.
Muraco was arrested and charged for Misdemeanor Criminally Impersonating a Public Servant and the traffic infraction, Illegally Displaying a Red Light on his vehicle. Muraco was also found to be in possession of brass knuckles and a small amount of marijuana and was further charged for Misdemeanor Criminal Possession of a Weapon and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.
Muraco’s red light and brass knuckles were seized as evidence and Muraco was taken to the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment in the Town of Aurora and Town of Sardinia Court.
