July 3, 2012- City of Buffalo- Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of a Cheektowaga man for multiple charges in the City of Buffalo by the Sheriff’s Strike Force.
Erie County Sheriff’s Strike Force Deputies Chris Soluri and Gene Nati were patrolling on Poplar Ave in the City of Buffalo when they witnessed 47 y/o Gerald R. Gibson of Cheektowaga, walking down the street with a handgun at his side. Deputies confronted Gibson and ordered him to drop his weapon. Gibson relinquished his weapon and upon further investigation, it was discovered the black and silver handgun was a BB/Pellet gun. Gibson stated he was going to “scare” some trouble making kids in the area.
Gibson was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree and Criminal Nuisance 2nd degree. Upon further search of Gibson, a crack pipe was discovered on his person and a subsequent charge of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance was added.
Gibson was taken to the Erie County Holding Center and held pending his arraignment in Buffalo City Court.
