DEER SMASHES THROUGH WINDSHIELD - DRIVER HURT IN SARDINIA

November 8, 2012- Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports a vehicle crash on Genesee Road, in the Town of Sardinia, injuring the driver.

44 year old, Edna J. Sprague was travelling westbound on Genesee Road, just west of Warner Gulf Road, when her vehicle struck a large, antlered deer, which had ran into the path of her vehicle, a 2005 Dodge Caravan.  After Sprague’s vehicle struck the deer, the deer smashed through the windshield, striking Sprague and landed in the back of the van.  After striking the deer, Sprague’s van continued off the road, and side swiped a tree.

Firefighters from the Chaffee-Sardinia Fire Company treated Sprague, at the scene.

Mercy Flight transported Sprague to Erie County Medical Center, where she is listed in stable condition.
